OUR SOCIAL VALUES
Providing Financial and Palpable Support
We Embrace Social Responsibilities
Inicio launched its social value pledges in 2018 and we strive to ensure that social value is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to create long term partnerships with Local Authorities gaining an in-depth understanding of local needs and align our values with local social priorities.
Every service we launch creates new jobs where we actively seek to recruit local people to work within these services. We ensure that local people are targeted with our recruitment drives, and that with full and part time contracts we create new job opportunities for the local community in which our services are based.
Recruitment of local people enables an in-depth knowledge of the local area, its amenities for the young people to access and the possible risks and enables us to safeguard and risk assess effectively, therefore bettering outcomes for young people.
Inicio pays above the National Living Wage and invests heavily in the training and development of our entire workforce. Raising living standards and providing constant new learning opportunities.
Investing heavily in our workforce training and development provides young people with highly skilled and qualified staff to support them, ensuring they are safe, secure, and achieving great outcomes towards independence.
When commissioning out to specialist trades people, not only do we consider quality and price but the location of where these trades are based. Using local trades people has benefits to both social value and the environment.
To support the reduction of Inicio footprint on the environment, each member of the workforce is issued with a reusable Inicio water bottle to reduce the number of single use plastic bottles being disposed of.
Carpooling amongst staff is also encouraged when attending work events and training.
We have a successful peer mentor scheme for young people who have previously resided at Inicio. They return to the provision and support young people moving into the service to offer moral support and share their own experiences of living at Inicio. We have had successful peer mentors previously that have then gone on to secure paid employment within the company.
We have also had great success with peer mentors for UASC who may have very little spoken English. Their mentor has been able to answer any questions they have about the service and the support they receive while residing at Inicio.
In 2018, Inicio formed a Partnership with Village by Village, a charity focused on improving the lives of children, families, and communities across West Africa. We set out to achieve an ambitious project of re-building a 6-classroom junior school in Albenta, Ghana.
Through various methods of fundraising the school was completed in 2019 and provides a safe learning environment for the children of the Albenta community and surrounding areas. This also provides opportunities for our young people, and workforce, to travel over to this community and volunteer their time and skills to support it even further.
Our Chief Executive
David Thompson has this to say;
The responsibility we hold in ensuring that we do all we can to work beyond the basics of social responsibility have led to a wonderful partnership with a truly amazing charity. The opportunities this affords to everyone involved cannot be underestimated. To have the opportunity to work so closely with a community, to see how our support changes the lives of those living in and around AboAbo, and to be able to send our Service Users and our Workforce over to experience this incredible journey is a true blessing. I am excited and hopeful that this partnership will be long lasting and successful, and I look forward to working closely with Neil Kerfoot (Village by Village CEO) and his team.
